Mike's memorial service was beautiful. And healing. I think I speak for most of his family as well when I say it was so healing and peaceful. So many people came together as a united group and paid Mike their respects. I met some wonderful people from his childhood that I had not met before, and it was so nice to have his family here again. There were a lot of tears at the service, but that's normal. There really was a sense of celebration and so much love all in one place. Mike got the send-off he deserved, and the family got the closure we deserved. I am in no way "over" my husband's death, but having that sense of closure gave me a jumpstart into my new life. A weight has been lifted. My heart is healing and is open. Austin came back home from California to attend the service, and Jack went back with them and is having a great time. It's really weird to have nobody here, but I'm using my time wisely and getting caught up on some stuff I've been neglecting. It's good.
The last couple of weeks have been eye opening. I have reunited with my dad after about 12 years of not speaking, and it was so good. We will continue to foster our relationship from now on. I have also had to trim some negativity from my life, which hurt, but I need to move on with good people with strong morals that will lift me up and not suffocate me and drag me down with constant drama.
I went out of town for a few days way out in the middle of nowhere to get away from it all, and it was wonderful to get away. In fact, I'm going out there again this weekend. Within the first hour out there, one of my dogs (Jessie) got bit on the paw by a rattlesnake. That got a little scary, but we took care of her and she has mostly recovered now. She still seems just a little bit weak, but she's back to being playful, eating and drinking, going outside, and being mostly herself. Thank you, Jeramy, for helping save my dog. I couldn't have done it without you.
