Today marks the 4-month anniversary of Mike's passing. It seems like a lifetime ago, but at the same time I have moments that feel like it happened just yesterday. The initial pain is fading as time goes on and life continues. Then I have moments that bring me to my knees with sudden reminders of what the boys and I have lost. Last night we got home from a friend's house, and the emptiness hit me like a ton of bricks. I had a pretty major meltdown, then wiped that shit off and I'm okay now and back on track.
My car repair saga continues, and my car is back in the shop again today for the third time in the last couple of months. I swear, my car is cursed. I just need to baby it through the next year or so, then I can say goodbye to it and get something more reliable. My last visit to the mechanic 2 weeks ago cost me another $1800, which included a whole new AC unit (living in New Mexico without AC is pretty difficult). Yesterday it stopped working. After only 2 weeks! So back to the shop it goes. Luckily, the previous repair is under warranty and it shouldn't cost me any more. Still, it's a major inconvenience. I need the security of having my car.
I am also having really bad luck with my swamp cooler for my house. After 3 different people have looked at it and tried to get it running for the season, I have to accept that I need a new one. So now I'm trying to figure out how to pick and get it installed. Just more inconvenience. And it's pretty miserably hot right now without it, so I need to get moving on it quickly. I feel like I just can't catch a break with everything falling apart and breaking. Calgon, take me away!
The boys are doing well and enjoying their summer break so far.
